How energy in the future will be generated? How are e-mobility, smart homes, and quantum computers changing an industry that is moving towards carbon neutrality and greater sustainability? More than 60 experts will be discussing these and many other questions at the E.ON Energy Innovation Days from 6 to 8 October 2020.

For the first time, this event will be taking place in a digital format, giving anyone with an interest in energy innovation the opportunity to participate in a total of over 20 sessions and to join in the discussions. The main themes of this year’s conference are electrification, connectivity, and digitalization. Participation is free. Anyone wishing to attend simply has to register in advance at https://eon-energy-innovation-days.expo-x.com.

A new format

A new format with proven objectives: E.ON Energy Innovation Days will once again focus on visions for the future of energy supply. The event, which features experts, will be taking place for the third time but will be completely digital in 2020.

The main stage for a total of 26 keynote speeches, presentations, panel discussions, and informal conversations will this year be transformed into digital sessions. A virtual exhibition will showcase some of the most innovative companies and projects, and participants will be given the chance to network and share ideas and information. The use of virtual reality should recreate some of the atmosphere of the physical event.

Three topics

Three topics in the spotlight are electrification, connectivity, and digitalization

Three topics will be in the spotlight in 2020: electrification, connectivity, and digitalization.

The E.ON Board of Management members Leonhard Birnbaum, Karsten Wildberger, and Thomas König will take it, in turn, to open each day of the event with a keynote speech. Afterwards, participants will have the opportunity to ask questions and enter into a virtual dialogue.

Electrification

Electrification: Tuesday, 6 October 2020, 11am to 4.30pm

On the first day of the conference, experts and participants will discuss the latest developments in e-mobility, the potential of hydrogen, and the role of consumers in the transition to clean energy.

Hydrogen vs. battery or both? What is the current status of research and where is there still room for improvement? Speakers, many of whom work at the forefront of innovation, include Lioudmila Simon, Head of Networked Mobility at E.ON Innovation, Katherina Reiche, CEO of Westenergie, and Dirk Uwe Sauer, a research expert from RWTH Aachen University.

Connectivity

participants can, take part in a panel discussion with experts such as Christof Kortz

Connectivity: Wednesday, 7 October 2020, 11.10am to 5pm

The second day is dedicated to connectivity. Distinguished experts will be talking about the circular economy, citizen energy communities, and the energy needs of tomorrow.

On the main stage or in break-out sessions, participants can, for example, take part in a panel discussion with experts such as Christof Kortz, Head of Industry Automation and Electrification at E.ON Innovation, exchange views on micro-energy generation and how it ties in with connectivity, or be inspired by SAP Chief Designer & Futurist Martin Wezowski.

Digitalization

Digitalization: Thursday, 8 October 2020, 11.10am to 4.15pm

On October 8, the last day of the E.ON Energy Innovation Days, the focus will shift to digitalization. E.ON CEO Johannes Teyssen will be taking part in a panel discussion at 2.45pm about the opportunities for E.ON as it embarks on its journey of transformation through the use of digital technologies. He will also be taking a look ahead to the future in his closing talk entitled “The energy industry: Where to from here?”
