The sensor solutions provider - HENSOLDT has received a follow-up order from the American L3Harris (formerly Viasat) for the delivery of high-performance electronics that will optimize NATO data links and thus the networking of individual troop units.
The contract, worth a high single-digit million amount, covers the manufacture and delivery of a further 100 power amplifiers for the MIDS LVT (Multifunctional Information Distribution System, Low Volume Terminal) data radio system of the US and European NATO troops of all branches of the armed forces.
power amplifiers
Since the first order in 2003, HENSOLDT has supplied approximately 4,500 power amplifiers for the MIDS program.
"The power amplifiers are among the performance-determining components of every data link," says Thomas Altwasser, Program Manager at HENSOLDT, adding "This tenth order in a row is a confirmation of our reliability as well as our technological competence in this sensitive area."
MIDS
MIDS is a Link-16 communication system with high-performance and interference-resistant digital links for the exchange of tactical information (data and voice) between NATO aircraft, ships, and ground stations. Thus, MIDS ensures interoperability and enables cross-force missions.
The power amplifier must guarantee high transmission power in a small installation space and at the same time the highest possible reception sensitivity. HENSOLDT also supplies similar electronic components to the European EuroMIDS consortium consisting of INDRA, Leonardo, Thales, and HENSOLDT.
