Since January 22, Hubei has ushered in cold-wave weather and many snowfalls. The power grid company has issued an early weather warning. On January 24, the ice covering thickness of 220 kV Ainan line exceeded 31 mm, exceeding the maximum allowable value of the design. There was a risk of tower collapse, which seriously threatened the safety of the power grid. There was an urgent need for an ice-melting operation on-site to eliminate potential security hazards.
Power grid security was urgent. Under the cold snow and wind, NR engineers quickly started the mobile ice-melting device. After overnight outdoor low-temperature operation, the ice melting equipment smoothly increased the injected DC to 850 A at 10 am on January 25, and the line ice began to fall off.
Hazards of the power grid
The ice of the 220 kV Ainan line fell off, quickly stopping the potential security hazards of the power grid
With the melting of the ice, all ice melting operations were completed at 12 am. The ice of the 220 kV Ainan line fell off, quickly eliminating the potential security hazards of the power grid. NR DC de-icer successfully escorted the safe and stable operation of the power grid with fast and high-quality service and reliable equipment quality.
With the continuous rain and snow weather in Central China, East China, South China, and other regions, all regions have successively started the icing early warning. NR deployed dozens of technical teams to serve the first sites with the most serious ice conditions in Hubei, Yunnan, Guizhou, Guangxi, and Zhejiang to ensure the ice melting operation.
Ten years of operation practice
NR is confident and determined to work with power grid companies to fight icy weather and protect power supply. NR developed the first DC De-icer in China after the ice disaster in 2008. Up to now, it has more than 90 sets of operation performance in South China, central China, North China, and East China, with an average annual ice melting operation of hundreds of times.
More than ten years of operation practice shows that the product is mature and reliable, and the operation is stable and effective. A service mode of annual equipment inspection, user training and front-line rapid response ice melting has been formed before the advent of the annual ice season. NR always adheres to continuously solving practical problems for industrial users to ensure the safety and stability of the power grid.
