EV Charging Licenses For Safe Installations In Sabah

EV Connection (EVC), the operator of the JomCharge EV Charging network, and Gentari became the first parties to receive licenses for public installation of EV Charging Systems in Sabah from the Energy Commission of Sabah (ECoS). The license handover ceremony was held on 1 August 2024 at BMW Motorrad Regas Premium Sabah and also BYD Regas Sabah located in Kolombong, Kota Kinabalu. Safe installations EVC and Gentari were also the first parties in Peninsular Malaysia to be licensed by ST. ECoS licenses are equivalent to the licenses issued by Suruhanjaya Tenaga (ST) in Peninsular Malaysia and are pivotal in ensuring safe installations that comply with safety standards to protect public usage. EVC and Gentari were also the first parties in Peninsular Malaysia to be licensed by ST. The ECoS licenses were handed over by ECoS CEO, Datuk Ir. Abdul Nasser Abdul Wahid and ECoS COO Ridwan Saham to the respective parties. Primary objectives of ECoS ECoS is a statutory body established by the State Government of Sabah on 10 January 2023. It operates as the official regulator for the energy sector within the Chief Minister's portfolio. The primary objectives of ECoS are to ensure secure, sustainable, affordable, and accessible energy for the State of Sabah. It plays a pivotal role in shaping Sabah’s energy landscape, promoting responsible energy practices, and safeguarding the interests of both consumers and the environment. Public safety whilst charging has always been of paramount importance to us and we look forward to working closely with ECoS in ensuring this.” EV Charging infrastructure As the number of EVs continuously grows in Sabah, EVC and Gentari is committed to supporting the Sabah EV Charging infrastructure that is required to underpin such growth.  This is in line with the sustainable energy agenda as a strategic initiative stated in the Sabah Energy Roadmap & Masterplan 2040 and also in tune with the federal government’s target of achieving 10,000 public chargers by 2025.

Gentari Green Mobility Expands EV Services In Indonesia

Gentari Green Mobility is now set to grow its Vehicle-as-a-Service (VaaS) and charging point solutions in Indonesia. Its subsidiary PT Gentari Green Mobility Fleet has signed an agreement with PT Energi Selalu Baru (ESB), a subsidiary of PT NFC Indonesia Tbk, MCASH Group, to collaborate on electric vehicle (EV) fleet solutions. Additionally, a Memorandum of Understanding between PT Gentari Green Mobility Charge and Indonesia’s national utility company, PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (Persero) (PLN), will see the parties jointly expanding EV charging infrastructure in the country. VaaS subscription model In collaboration with MCASH Group, Gentari Green Mobility is currently focusing on two-wheel EVs, offering co-branded electric motorcycles through a VaaS subscription model, supported by a network of Battery Swapping Stations (SGB).  To date, a fleet of 300 electric motorcycles has been deployed across key regions of Jakarta, Tangerang, West Java, and East Java, and 30 Battery Swapping Stations have been activated in Jakarta, Tangerang, Depok, and Bekasi. Gentari Green Mobility and MCASH Group aim to significantly expand this fleet and the number of Battery Swapping Stations by the end of 2024. Expand charging infrastructure Gentari Green Mobility is collaborating with PLN to jointly develop public EV charging points Meanwhile, Gentari Green Mobility is collaborating with PLN to jointly develop public EV charging points, in support of the Government’s aim to accelerate EV adoption and expand charging infrastructure.  To kick off the collaboration, a joint study will be conducted on the technical, business, and commercial aspects of deploying public EV charging infrastructure, followed by a pilot project and subsequent rollout. Currently, Gentari Green Mobility is set to initiate the deployment of charging points in strategic locations across Java, including malls, condominiums, commercial areas, and highways. We welcome the collaboration with Gentari Green Mobility, as working together will significantly enhance our efforts to expand Indonesia’s EV charging network, accelerating both adoption and infrastructure development to support the nation's clean energy goals.” Across Asia, Gentari Green Mobility’s network of more than 920 CPs covers Malaysia, Thailand, and India, while it has also deployed more than 3,800 EVs through its VaaS fleet across India, Malaysia, and Indonesia.

Hubject Partners With Gentari To Expand EV Charging Network

Hubject, the EV interoperability market pioneer, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Gentari Green Mobility Sdn Bhd, the wholly-owned subsidiary of clean energy solutions provider Gentari Sdn Bhd (Gentari), to connect Gentari’s network of electric vehicle (EV) chargers to Hubject’s eRoaming platform, allowing EV drivers to seamlessly charge at an expanded network of charging points across the region. The collaboration marks a milestone towards the longer-term aim of enhancing the accessibility and reliability of the EV charging infrastructure in Malaysia and across Southeast Asia. This collaboration with Hubject, set to achieve one million networked charge points globally by 2024, is part of Gentari's strategic aim to streamline the EV charging experience in Southeast Asia with Hubject's connectivity technology.
