Arup Appoints Alan Thomson As Their New Global Energy Leader To Focus On Developing Large-Scale Hydrogen And Offshore Wind Energy

Alan Thomson has been appointed as Arup’s Global Energy Leader, with a focus on developing large-scale hydrogen, offshore wind and urban energy. Alan, a qualified Engineer, has been with Arup for over 17 years and has led major projects, including advising the New Zealand government in its move to hydrogen energy. Operation and asset extension He has also led the analysis of decarbonizing pathways for the UK, aiming to understand the short, medium and long-term requirements for a net zero decarbonized future. Arup’s blended energy team includes economists, behavioral scientists, engineers and sustainability consultants working together to bring about projects from financing and inception through to operation and asset extension and repurposing. Major projects include: Supporting the UK government and The Crown Estate to understand the future of offshore wind through digital modelling and scenarios Advising US states on the future of electrified transport fleets including the deployment of solar charging for electric buses in Massachusetts Undertaking studies for the Western Australian Government to explore the future of green hydrogen across the region.
