Würth Elektronik is the technology partner of three Formula Student teams GreenTeam Uni Stuttgart, KA RaceIng KIT Karlsruhe and HHN Racing RWH Künzelsau/HS Heilbronn. The students have used the downtime of the 2019/2020 season well for the development of new race cars.

The plan is for the student teams to compete against each other at the legendary Hockenheimring from August 16 to 22, 2021. The three teams supported by Würth Elektronik with training, design support, and electronic and electromechanical components are showing themselves to be well prepared. In the so-called "roll-out", the new racecars are to be presented in May.

MagI³C, REDCUBE

MagI³C power modules, LEDs, transformers, ceramic chip capacitors, cable lugs, REDCUBE high-current elements - many components are provided by Würth Elektronik and installed by the Formula Student teams in their racecars.

The component manufacturer also transfers technical know-how to the teams in webinars tailored to the information needs of the individual student development teams.

Design related tips

Würth Elektronik can test newly developed components on the race track and is thus at the forefront

In addition, the student developers take advantage of the offer to receive concrete tips from experts on design issues relating to individual circuit boards.

The technology partnership is a win-win situation for both manufacturer and teams: the teams benefit from support and components, while manufacturer Würth Elektronik can test newly developed components on the race track and is thus at the forefront of new developments in e-mobility in particular.

support good, innovative ideas

"Our Formula Student Exclusive teams have had difficult times due to Corona. But there has been very intensive development and we have been able to support many good, innovative ideas with our developer support and components," says Alexander Gerfer, CTO of the Würth Elektronik eiSos Group.

"There are great talents among these students, and many ideas are being developed here that we as an economy and society will need in the future. Now it can finally start again and the new developments and improvements can prove themselves on the track and in the race. We are happy for the teams and are already excited about the innovative racing cars."
