On June 21, the 9th Global Offshore Wind Summit kicked off in Ningbo, Zhejiang province. During the meeting, Windey experts were invited to attend and make a keynote speech. It is a crucial stage for China's wind power industry to expand from offshore to far-reaching sea, so how to grasp the opportunity is particularly important.

In this regard, Windey experts focused on the three major trends of the future development of offshore wind power technology, combined with the exploration and practice of the enterprise for many years, and jointly looked forward to the industry blueprint with the guests, and shared the solution of 'Windey Wisdom'.

Wind turbine 'big' trend

Throughout the development of offshore offshore in China, offshore wind turbine equipment has experienced great changes from 2 MW to 15 MW. Experts believe that the development trajectory of the continuous expansion of offshore units is closely related to the specific requirements of development costs under the background of The Times. As the offshore wind power industry gradually advances to the deep sea, the proportion of investment in wind turbine foundations and construction installation is increasing.

The effect of reducing the digit of wind turbines on easing the overall buy cost will become more obvious

At the same scale, the effect of reducing the number of wind turbines on reducing the overall investment cost will become more obvious, and the large-scale of units is still the mainstream of development.

Experts predict that with the continuous innovation of technology in related fields, the single capacity of offshore wind turbines will continue to increase, and it is expected to reach 25 MW in five years.

Wind power commercialization process

Based on the above prediction, Windey Stock pre-planned to launch the Sea Harr platform WD225-9000OS, which was the largest single-capacity of offshore unit in China at that time, in 2019, and is currently applied to the 504 MW offshore wind power project of Phase 2 of the Guodian Xiangshan No. 1 and realized full capacity grid-connected operation.

Following the 'Sea Harr', Windey launched the 'Sea Eagle' platform 15-18 MW unit in 2023, among which the floating WD260-16000 model successfully won the bid for the China Power Construction Hainan Wanning floating project, promoting the floating wind power commercialization process.

In addition, Windey is carrying out the research and development of 25 MW units and has reserved 25 MW prototype slots in the self-operated wind farm to prepare for the further upgrade of the offshore units.

Technology leads the upgrading of 'industry'

The offshore machine and supporting structure generally account for more than 50% of the project cost

At present, the offshore machine and supporting structure generally account for more than 50% of the project cost. As offshore wind power moves from near shallow seas to deep seas, this proportion will continue to increase.

Based on global optimization, Windey has established a corresponding integrated design system for single pile, jacket and floating foundation, which is more reasonable in terms of design load and safety margin.

This technology has been applied in the Guodian Xiangshan No.1 Phase 2 504 MW offshore wind power project, which significantly reduces the mud surface load of the foundation structure design, and realizes the overall optimization of the support structure through the optimization of the unit control strategy, the improvement of the pile soil mud surface overturning bending moment, the mud surface base shear force and other factors, saving the project cost by more than 10%.

Offshore electricity consumption

Subject to the objective influence of the far-reaching offshore distance of sea wind power, the risk of batch off-grid is also rising with the increase of distance. At the same time, the impact of a profound sea typhoon's instantaneous limit wind speed on the unit is also an unavoidable design problem, and the industry collaboration of "wind turbine + energy storage" has gradually entered the mainstream vision.

In 2023, Windey launched the world's first 'one machine, one storage' unit

In 2023, Windey launched the world's first 'one machine, one storage' unit, and on this basis continues to develop wind storage integration grid-type wind turbines with power grid synchronous support capability, black start, active damping, and other functions, which cannot only maintain the voltage stability of the local power grid, but also serve as backup power supply to cope with typhoons.

To provide a safety guarantee for the future far-reaching offshore electricity consumption and delivery.

Scale development 'home port' breakthrough

Due to the objective influence of offshore distance, seawater depth, and power transmission accessibility, economic constraints have replaced technical constraints and become a 'hidden disease' that troubles far-reaching offshore scale development. How to ensure the economic stability of the project at a reasonable level? According to the detailed research results, Windey to 'wind power home port' as the core to provide an effective idea.

Windey experts pointed out that for the key links such as far-reaching offshore project development, product research and development, and full life cycle operation and maintenance, the construction of a wind power homeport integrating the whole supporting industries, such as core component manufacturing, wind turbine basic assembly, wind power research, and development test is an effective starting point, which can not only improve the efficiency of industrial upgrading, product research and development, and electric field operation and maintenance, but also reduce cost pain points.

It is also promising in the future application of far-reaching sea floating projects. Experts predict that the completion of the wind power home port will save 10%-20% of the project cost, and is bound to become the backbone of escorting far-reaching sea-scale development.
