By installing a new speed display, the local community of Leiwen is making an important contribution to the safety of all road users together with Westenergie.
The company is supporting the community with a grant for the purchase.
Road safety
"The display immediately shows every passing car the speed being driven," said Johannes Weis, First Deputy Mayor in Leiwen.
Johannes Weis adds, "The data is stored anonymously and provides valuable information for further improving road safety at the respective measuring point."
solar module
The speed display does not require a power connection and can be used at different locations
The display will initially be used at Schulstrasse 10 in Leiwen, opposite the primary school. Thanks to an environmentally friendly solar module, the speed display does not require a power connection and can be used at different locations as required.
Marco Felten, Head of the Trier region at Westenergie, emphasized, "I am pleased that we are implementing these measures to improve road safety together with the local community of Leiwen. In doing so, we are contributing to improving the quality and safety of the location."
energy efficiency
Westenergie offers the KEK - Municipal Energy Concept funding program to municipalities that have concluded a concession agreement with the energy company. It includes solutions and products that help municipalities prepare for the energy future.
Measures in the areas of climate protection, energy efficiency, and infrastructure are supported. This includes, for example, increasing the energy efficiency of municipal buildings and facilities or concepts for electromobility.
