The wine village of Niederhausen is located in the middle of the Nahe. The community was first mentioned in documents around 1238, but the community was certainly already inhabited in Roman times, as evidenced by finds.
Christine Mathern, local mayor, Markus Lüttger, mayor of the Rüdesheim collective municipality, Melanie Dindorf, Westenergie municipal manager, and Thomas Johann, head of the Rhine-Nahe-Hunsrück regional center at Westnetz, met at the community center to extend the electricity concession contract that has been in place since July 1, 2005, until June 30, 2045.
Efficient and reliable networks
This was preceded by a public competition for interested energy supply companies for the concession. The local community examined and evaluated the offer - in the end the decision was made in favor of Westenergie.
"We are very pleased to be able to continue the proven and long-standing partnership with the municipality. The new concession contract ensures efficient and reliable networks for all citizens as well as for commercial and industrial companies," explained Dindorf at the signing of the contract. Local mayor Mathern values the cooperation with Westenergie: "With Westenergie, we chose the provider in the concession process that has proven its efficiency and reliability over many years."
Energy supply networks
Westenergie essays to ensure a secure energy supply and to pay the contractually agreed benefit fee
With the concession agreement, the municipality grants the energy supply company the right to use public roads, paths and squares to lay supply lines (right of way) and to operate the energy supply networks in the municipality. In return, Westenergie undertakes to guarantee a secure energy supply and to pay the contractually agreed concession fee to the municipality.
Dindorf also praised the good cooperation: "Today we are receiving a vote of confidence that we want to continue to live up to. Not least in order to advance the energy transition, we need intelligent solutions for the network. We are a strong partner in this. We will measure ourselves by the success of the partnership so far, because that should also be the benchmark for the future for us," assured the municipal manager.
Network and infrastructure solutions
Westenergie, based in Essen, is the pioneering energy service provider and infrastructure provider in Germany. The energy company has set itself the goal of actively shaping the intelligent energy landscape of the future. Westenergie therefore offers holistic services as well as network and infrastructure solutions for modern municipalities and develops these tailor-made in close dialogue with them, especially in its 1,600 partner communities.
