The use of eBikes helps to reduce CO2 emissions but is not possible without a comprehensive and user-friendly charging infrastructure. This is because eBike riders need to be able to get from A to B reliably. Municipalities play a central role in this.

For this reason, Westenergie AG is committed to expanding the public charging infrastructure in its partner municipalities and, together with the city of Marl, has installed a new Westenergie eBike charging station at the central depot, ZBH, Zechenstrasse 20.

"Together with our partner municipalities, we want to further expand and promote the future-oriented infrastructure," said Katrin Frendo, Westenergie employee in the Marketing & Brand department.

Katrin Frendo adds, "With a large number of Westenergie eBike charging stations in the region, we are inspiring more people to use this environmentally friendly form of transport and also enabling them to charge conveniently."

LED-lit storage and charging compartments

Six eBikes or eScooters and a further six smartphones, laptops, or power banks can be charged simultaneously

Westenergie is supporting the installation of the charging station with sponsorship. The station has lockable compartments with the option of safely charging batteries - even when detached from the eBike.

Six eBikes or eScooters and a further six smartphones, laptops, or power banks can be charged simultaneously via three double sockets and six USB ports.

The model also offers three LED-lit storage and charging compartments, with the locker doors having a cable feed-through to the outside. This also makes direct charging on the eBike or eScooter possible.

The charging station is around 1.40 meters high and made of solid steel and aluminum. A special paint protects it against corrosion.

"The Westenergie eBike charging station is a useful and helpful addition to our city. A well-developed infrastructure is essential for promoting eMobility. We are pleased that we are now creating another opportunity to promote climate-friendly mobility," said Mayor Werner Arndt.
