The rehearsal rooms of the Grün-Weiß Lembeck e. V. marching band is located in the basement of the former Laurentiusschule and has a large outdoor area that can be reached via an external staircase.
Outdoor rehearsals, barbecues, and other events take place outside in the summer. In order to enable safer access to the outdoor area, the desire for a handrail for the outdoor staircase arose.
active local employee initiative
When Markus Droste, an employee of Westenergie AG, heard about this request, he decided to support the association.
He applied to his employer for the maximum grant of 2,000 euros for the required material via the Westenergie active local employee initiative. Together with other volunteers, he installed the stainless steel handrail on the outdoor staircase.
social and voluntary commitment
"We are very happy that the new handrail now enables safer access to our much-used outdoor area. This was very important to us, especially for our older club members," said Theresa Heiming, Youth Training Officer at the Grün-Weiß Lembeck marching band.
With Westenergie aktiv vor Ort, the company supports the social and voluntary commitment of its employees.
2,000 euros
Westenergie covers the material costs, but not wages because the focus is on voluntary work
Anyone who rolls up their sleeves and gets involved in a good cause in their hometown receives up to 2,000 euros for their project. Westenergie covers the material costs, but not wages because the focus is on voluntary work, which should be encouraged and rewarded.
If a daycare center needs a new swing or a clubhouse urgently needs renovation - 'Westenergie aktiv vor Ort' makes it possible.
climate protection, and education
In addition to energy supply, Westenergie is traditionally involved in the areas of sport, culture, social affairs, climate protection, and education in its partner communities. Through sponsorships and cooperation, the company supports both small initiatives and large clubs to shape the future together with local people on a social level.
Almost 400 projects were supported last year through the employee initiative - 'Westenergie aktiv vor Ort' alone. Since the initiative was launched in 2005, more than 11,000 projects have been implemented and subsidized by Westenergie with over 20 million euros.
