Curtain up for "Wedding under Electricity": Four daycare centers from Velen accepted Westenergie's invitation to the energy theater. In cooperation with the "HalloDu Theater" from Bochum, the Westenergie educational initiative 3malE - Education with Energy makes the topic of energy clear and understandable and packages it in a 45-minute story.
On Thursday, June 13, 2024, the energy theater took place in the Waldburg daycare center for a total of around 80 children from four different daycare centers.
Big party
The ice in the fridge starts to thaw, the polar bear and the ice princess are in danger
Gundi and Gustel have big plans: their new apartment has to be furnished before the big party for their silver wedding anniversary. Which appliances do they need in the living room, kitchen, and bathroom? Where are sockets and cables needed to make sure everything works? To prepare for the party, they switch on all the appliances.
It hums, buzzes and whirs, but suddenly it's quiet. Nothing works anymore. Everything is off. The ice in the fridge starts to thaw, the polar bear and the ice princess are in danger, the dishes remain unwashed, the cake doesn't cook.
Household appliances
Will Gundi and Gustel solve the problem in time? Can the big party go ahead? The play is especially tailored to the youngest children and was developed especially for 3malE. Experienced theater professionals have been successfully writing and directing plays for children for many years.
Which household appliances actually run on electricity? Which of them are energy guzzlers? What happens when all the appliances are switched on at the same time? These topics are dealt with in an age-appropriate manner by combining puppet theater and drama.

Kindergartens in the Westenergie AG network region can apply for a maximum of one performance
After the play, the two actors spoke to the children about what they had just learned and answered questions. "It was a great experience for all of us. The children were captivated by the theater and will take home a lot of food for thought about saving energy," explained Katja Prahs, Westenergie municipal manager, after the event.
There are still free dates for 2024. Kindergartens in the Westenergie AG network region can apply for a maximum of one performance of the energy theater: 3malE energy theater for children: Wedding under electricity.
