Vestel has announced its first Vestel-branded EV charger for the highly regulated UK market. The EVC04 is a reliable, affordable single-phase charger for domestic and small business installations, packed with features and fully compliant with new 2023 UK electrical and security regulations.

The move established the Vestel brand name in the EV charger market by offering installers and contractors an affordable, easy-to-install charger solution fully compliant with the latest regulations.

The new UK-specific EVC04 is based on the proven chassis and design of the European-spec 3-phase

The new UK-specific EVC04 is based on the proven chassis and design of the European-spec 3-phase EVC04-AC22 models that have been installed in over 30,000 locations across mainland Europe on behalf of vehicle manufacturers, fuel brands, and energy providers.

Its proven track record of reliability and its low-cost, thanks to Vestel’s 700,000 units per year manufacturing scale, have made it one of the most widely used electric vehicle chargers in the market.

The UK version marks Vestel’s first own-brand entry into the UK EV charger market, launching the EVC04 with aggressive pricing designed to offer installers a lower-cost solution and reduce the overall cost of entry into EV ownership for end users. Ideal for homes and small business, the EVC04 boast 7kW charging from a single-phase supply and flexible charging scheduling via its App or web-browser dashboard.

Flexible charging scheduling

Wi-Fi or Ethernet connected, this compact charger is automatically kept fully up-to-date and secure against cyber-attacks, offers PEN fault detection and is fully compliant with the UK government’s OZEV & EVHS schemes as well as new cyber security legislation for EV chargers.

Speaking about the launch, Matthew Lang, Managing Director of Vestel UK, said, “We are excited to bring our successful EVC04 electric vehicle charger to the UK market, complete with a raft of new features designed to be fully compliant with existing and forthcoming UK electrical and safety regulations. With its easy installation in single-phase supply premises and affordable price, the 7kW Vestel EVC04 sets the benchmark for small EV chargers in the UK.”

Flame-retardant housing

Vestel has also unveiled a 22kW 3-phase version of the EVC04 with all the features of the single-phase unit

The EVC04 leads the market in safety and convenience with its IK 10 impact and IP54 ingress protection rating, Bluetooth and 4G connectivity, LCD display, remote scheduling via the Drive Green app, optional built-in RCD and best-in-class 5VA-rated flame-retardant housing.

For commercial premises, Vestel has also unveiled a 22kW 3-phase version of the EVC04 with all the features of the single-phase unit, including dynamic load management for premises with multiple chargers installed and an RFID Reader for employee charge cards.

Electric vehicle market

The launch of the Vestel EVC04 comes at a critical time for the electric vehicle market, as more and more drivers and businesses make the switch to electric vehicles. New car registrations in the UK in the 12 months to Feb 2023 were up close to 20% on the previous 12-month period, with fleet and business registrations showing the highest growth.

The UK government has set a target of banning the sale of new petrol and diesel cars by 2030, driving substantial growth across the EV sector in the interim period. As one of the largest EV charger makers in Europe, the launch of the Vestel branded EVC04 is a further step in establishing Vestel as Europe’s premier supplier of affordable charging solutions for the booming EV market,” adds Matthew Lang.

Affordable charging solutions

Matthew Lang continues, “The move to bring the Vestel brand name into the UK EV charge space complements our OEM EV charger business that will continue to supply premium name vehicle, fuel and energy brands with models from residential units to the largest DC ultra-high speed chargers underpinning the UK’s growing EV infrastructure.”

The EVC04 will be available to trade from June 2023, via approved Vestel distributors.
