The ONE Series Field Safety Transmitter is a complete safety instrumented system (SIS) all together in a single package.

The ONE Series Field Safety Transmitter complies with the IEC 61511, the technical standard that ensures the safety of industrial processes using instrumentation. The One Series Field Safety Transmitter is Exida certified. It has a Safe Failure Fraction (SFF) of 98.8% and a Probability of Failure on Demand (PFDavg) ≤ 2×10-3. Also, the Safety Transmitter won the Exida safety award in the sensor category as a unique contribution to industrial safety.

Higher risk of failure

There are four SIL levels: SIL 1, SIL 2, SIL 3, and SIL 4. The higher the SIL, the greater the ability to handle a higher risk of failure. If there is greater risk of failure, the stricter the safety requirements will be. UE’s One Series Safety Transmitter meets the latest IEC 61508 standard for SIL 2 SIS, and the requirements of SIL 2 for random integrity at HFT = 0. SIL 3 for random integrity at HFT = 1, and SIL 3 for systematic capability.

Typically, a SIS is split into three elements:

  • Logic solver: the hardware (PLC or controller) that decides if it is necessary to act upon the process variable measured.
  • Sensing element: measures a physical variable within the protected system and sends the information to the logic solver.
  • Actuating element: which is the final element and carries out the necessary tasks, if decided to act.

Holistic safety validation

The benefits of taking advantage of the ONE Series Safety Transmitter is that it comes in three models

Every element has a probability of failure. However, the advantage of using an integrated solution as the ONE Series Safety Transmitter is the holistic safety validation, where elements are integrated to verify their operation, minimizing opportunity of individual failures as in a separated approach. This also eliminates wiring mistakes that can happen between different elements and its integration allows for a single more robust product.

In addition to the elements stated above, the benefits of taking advantage of the ONE Series Safety Transmitter is that it comes in three models to fit the power driving needs, with different safety relay output capabilities:

  • 2SLP47: for 12-250 VAC loads from 5 mA up to 5 A.
  • 2SLP48: for 0-30 VDC loads from 5 mA up to 6 A.
  • 2SLP49: for 0-130 VDC loads from 5 mA up to 2.5 A.

Functional and safety ready

These offer the flexibility to choose the right control element for the application, with an integrated solution that is functional and safety ready.

This implementation will be compliant from the get go with the highest reliability from the functional safety function point of view. This independent protection layer will be immune to cyberattacks as well.
