Siemens Smart Infrastructure has delivered to the market an essential solution for accelerating a successful energy transition - the SICAM Enhanced Grid Sensor (EGS), designed to address the key challenge of distribution network transparency for grid operators.

network transparency

With only 22 percent of citywide smart grids deemed to be mature or advanced according to respondents in the recent Infrastructure Transition Monitor, the new solution will play a pivotal role in digitalizing distribution grids, enabling grid operators to achieve full network transparency.

Part of the Siemens Xcelerator portfolio, an open digital business platform that enables customers to accelerate their digital transformation easier, faster, and at scale, this innovative solution sets a new standard in grid monitoring, providing up to 100 percent transparency of local grid and distribution substations.

energy transition

Transparency into the distribution network is vital for enabling the energy transition as it allows for optimized maintenance, efficient resource allocation, minimized downtime, and greater renewable energy generation and integration,” said Stephan May, CEO of Electrification and Automation at Siemens Smart Infrastructure.

He adds, “With the SICAM EGS, we are entering a new era of network visibility and further equipping our customers with the solutions they need to accelerate the energy transition.”
