The No. 5 Unit of Yangxi 1240MW Phase II Project, with Shanghai Electric Power Generation Group as an EPC contractor, completed a 168-hour trial run under full load on July 7. It marks the commercial operation of the single-shaft full-speed thermal power unit that features the world’s largest capacity.

All three main engines of the project are independently developed by Shanghai Electric. With serial, modular design, optimized parameters, and capacity arrangement, the unit excels in reliability and delivers world-class performance in many aspects. After its operation, the unit will effectively ease the electricity shortage in the western Guangdong province and ensure safe and stable grid operation.
