A commissioning ceremony was held for Shanghai Electric Golmud Meiman Minhang energy storage power station in Golmud City, Qinghai Province.

The first of its kind with market-oriented operation, the 32MW/64MWh power station has made possible "Wind, Solar, Hydro, Thermal, and Storage Integration" and "Generation, Grid, Load, and Storage Integration".

Shanghai Electric and the owners of new energy power stations co-invest in the project and share its benefits. The project is constructed by Shanghai Electric New Energy Power Generation Engineering Co., Ltd., with the lithium iron phosphate battery storage system from Shanghai Electric Guoxuan New Energy Technology Co., Ltd. and technical support from Shanghai Electric Digital Technology Co., Ltd. (SEDT).

Warehouse-type power station

The electricity in the power station is stored during the peak curtailment of solar and wind power

The warehouse-type power station installs battery systems in the two sheds. The electricity is stored during the peak curtailment of solar and wind power and then fed into the grid during the valley. The new model helps smooth out the peak and optimize the electricity generated.

The power station will be connected to the local grid in Qinghai to effectively mitigate the curtailment of solar and wind power in surrounding areas. The project's successful operation helps Shanghai Electric identify the path in the energy storage industry and makes a role model in utilizing new energy and exploring more similar opportunities in Northwest China.

Guest present

Guests at the ceremony included Golmud officials, heads of local electricity companies, design institutes, and managers from the Power Generation Group.
