Shanghai Electric's Shared Energy Storage Project broke ground in Golmud, Qinghai on June 22. Shanghai Electric Power Generation Engineering Co., Ltd. is the EPC contractor of the project while adopting a lithium iron phosphate battery storage system provided by Shanghai Electric Guoxuan New Energy Technology Co., Ltd.
It is a pilot project for Shanghai Electric to expand its presence in the northwest energy storage market.
optimal benefits
For renewable energy plants, the new model of shared energy storage delivers optimal benefits through intensive investment and ensures smooth connection with the grid. It fits the State Grid's goal to build hub-like platforms with shared operations.
According to the plan, Phase I includes 32/64MWh energy storage stations that will be connected with the local grid, which can effectively prevent local new-energy plants from abandoning solar and wind power.
