SemperPower proudly announces that it is entering the realization phase of its third large-scale energy storage project: Project Pollux.
This battery system, with a capacity of 30 megawatts and a capacity of 68-megawatt hours, will be the largest operational battery energy storage project in the Netherlands when it comes into operation in the fall of 2023, and thus also one of the largest in Northwest Europe.
Together with their project partners, they are accelerating the Dutch energy transition.
Project Pollux
- A battery system with 30 megawatts of power and an energy storage capacity of 68 megawatt hours;
- Located directly next to twin sister Castor in the middle of the energy hub in Vlissingen-Oost;
- With Alfen as delivery and installation partner;
- Financed by Triodos Bank, asr and sustainable investment fund manager Meewind,
- To promote the integration of sustainable energy and support Essent's sustainable portfolio.
MWh battery system
Essent will use the 30 MW/68 MWh battery system for the long term to absorb the volatility
Together with project partners, SemperPower will enter the realization phase, followed by the operational phase. Essent will use the 30 MW/68 MWh battery system for the long term to absorb the volatility of its sustainable energy portfolio.
This will contribute to a faster integration of sustainable energy in the Dutch electricity market. As supply and installation partner, Alfen will build the system on the North Sea Port site in the energy hub in Vlissingen-Oost, next to its twin sister Castor.
The battery system will be directly connected to the Stedin network. The project is co-facilitated by Triodos Bank, asr and sustainable investment fund manager - Meewind as financing partners.
large-scale battery project
"We are proud to announce our third large-scale battery project in the short term," said Dennis Schiricke, CEO, SemperPower.
Dennis Schiricke adds, "It once again underlines SemperPower's development capabilities and the leading role in the energy transition that the company is playing with its project partners. In this way, we will continue to accelerate the energy transition together!"
