Scolmore continues to build its portfolio of products and solutions dedicated to healthcare settings, with the introduction of two new products to its Click Mode range. These are Blue 'Medical Equipment Only' Socket Outlets and Green Outboard Rocker Sockets, both manufactured from Urea Formaldehyde which provides anti-bacterial and anti-viral properties.

Blue 'Medical Equipment Only' Sockets are designed to distinguish them from non-IPS electrical sockets. This helps ensure medical equipment is plugged into IPS sockets and non-medical equipment is plugged into non-IPS sockets.

Click Mode Blue Medical Sockets

Scolmore’s Click Mode Blue Medical Sockets are available in one- and two-gang switched and unswitched options

The introduction of the new sockets means that specifiers, contractors, and installers can provide healthcare establishments with products that meet the requirements of BS 7671 (IET wiring regulations). They are intended to be used by healthcare organizations and medical device suppliers responsible for the permanent electrical installation of medical devices and associated equipment.

Scolmore’s Click Mode Blue Medical Sockets are available in one- and two-gang switched and unswitched options, with clean earth terminals provided as standard. In line with the requirements, they feature laser-etched white lettering stating, ‘Medical Equipment Only’.

Enhances hygiene properties

The new Green Outboard Rocker Sockets will further enhance Scolmore’s provision of specialist products for healthcare environments. The new two-gang sockets provide installers with a color differential for supply being switched and are an addition to the Red Outboard Rocker Sockets already available.

With an increasing emphasis on infection control and building cleanliness, Scolmore continues to invest to ensure that its wiring accessory products offer enhanced hygiene properties.

Anti-microbial and anti-viral properties

The company’s popular Mode, Mode Part M, and Polar plates have been independently tested and have shown to have anti-viral properties against enveloped and non-enveloped viruses. After a contact period of 4 hours, all tested plates were shown to have a 99.9% kill-off rate against enveloped viruses and a 92% kill-off rate against non-enveloped viruses.

This anti-viral testing is in addition to the anti-bacterial testing already carried out. Mode, Mode Part M, and Polar are all manufactured using Urea Formaldehyde, which has similar inherent properties to anti-microbial additives that inhibit the growth of infectious diseases. When independently tested, all products achieved a 99.99% kill-off rate across all four types of strains of bacteria – MRSA, E-Coli, Salmonella, and Klebsiella Pneumonia.
