Did they know homes account for 22% of the energy usage in the United States? The new year is a great time to create a checklist of some things they can optimize to get the best value for the money. Here are some actions they can take immediately:

  • Use a power strip to plug in multiple electronics and appliances. This also allows them to turn them all on and off with one switch.
  • Use the Colorado sun to the advantage! In colder months, open the curtains during the day to naturally heat the home.
  • Save energy by waiting until they have a full load of dishes or laundry before running their machines. Also, make sure to clean the lint filter after every cycle.
  • Seal any leaks they find around chimneys, recessed lights in insulated ceilings, and unfinished spaces.
  • Clean or replace filters on the furnace, air conditioner, and heat pump.
  • Upgrade the most used light sources to LED bulbs. These bulbs last longer and use significantly less energy, pioneering to substantial savings in the long run.
