On September 26, 2019, the Changji-Guquan ±1100kV UHVDC transmission project of the State Grid Corporation of China was officially put into operation.
Changji-Guquan UHVDC transmission project is a milestone in the development of UHVDC transmission history in China. The purpose of this huge project is to boost West-to-East power delivery with the enhanced anti-pollution strategy of China.
UHVDC transmission project
Economic profits for Xinjiang and solve the power imbalance between Xinjiang and the Southeast of China
This is the world’s longest, highest, and largest UHVDC transmission project, starting from Changji in Xinjiang Province to Xuancheng in Anhui Province, covering six provinces with a total distance of 3400 km.
The installation capacity of Changji-Guquan UHVDC project is 12000MW. As an important corridor for power delivery from Xinjiang, its establishment will bring economic profits for Xinjiang and solve the power imbalance between Xinjiang and the Southeast of China.
UHVDC core equipment and protection system
In response to the vital problems brought about by the high voltage, long distance, and large capacity of the Changji-Guquan transmission project, NR provided the core complete sets of equipment, such as converter valves, DC control protection systems, measuring devices, and safety and stability control systems.
NR Electric, as a power stability expert, is a pioneering protection & control solution provider across the world. With the winning of this contract for UHVDC core equipment and protection system, NR achieved another milestone towards the betterment of high power transmission and a better power stability solution.
