On July 5, 2019, NR's all-silicon carbide electronic transformer was successfully electrified and put into operation in Lianyungang, Jiangsu province.

Lianyungang islands AC/DC distribution network project adopted NR's PCS - 9538 power electronic transformer (PET) and PCS - 9617 micro grid coordinated control system (MGCC), to satisfy the different voltage levels, the capacity of a variety of distributed network and access requirements of energy, in order to improve the power supply reliability of the islands.

With the application of this system, even in a single island, the external power source, internal clean energy could be stable connected.

Internal clean energy

The power electronic transformer provided by NR for this project operated the full silicon carbide power device, which is the core hub of the connecting island AC/DC distribution network, and builds the regional energy network, realizing the mixed AC/DC supply with four ports of 10kV, DC ±750V, DC ±375V and AC 380V.

Through the coordinated optimization of power electronic transformer and source network load storage, this system manages the AC and DC distribution network in time, greatly improving the utilization efficiency of photovoltaic, energy storage and other energy resources on the island.

This project contributes to building island-connecting energy network and strengthening energy connectivity, creating a new chapter in the management and control of island energy interconnection.

The successful operation of the full silicon carbide power electronic transformer further improves the distribution network structure of NR, and provides a new and effective solution for the AC-DC hybrid distribution network.
