On April 20, 2021, with the smooth completion of the rated power operation test, the 150 kV / 60 MVar STATCOM, which is installed in the power transmission network of INDEPENDENT POWER TRANSMISSION OPERATOR S.A. (Greek TSO. Hereinafter referred to as “IPTO”), was officially put into operation.
The STATCOM project is an important supporting project of Crete-Peloponnese interconnection phase I project of IPTO.

The interconnection project will realize the electrical connection between Crete Island and the Greek mainland, and change the isolated grid operation situation of Crete. For the STATCOM project, NR Electric provided the state-of-the-art containerized STATCOM solution, including the overall design, supply, installation and commissioning, and system test for the project.

Despite facing the significant influence of the COVID-19 pandemic, during the implementation of the project, the project team and partners have overcome many difficulties, actively optimized the technical scheme, and promoted the progress of the inspection, installation and equipment commissioning etc. NR Electric finally completed the STATCOM electrification testing and commissioning in accordance with the timeline.
