The Marl Lenkerbeck Volunteer Fire Department, Fire Brigade III, has purchased a trailer that is used for events, transport, and holiday camps for the youth fire department.
To park the trailer in a safe place, there was a desire for a carport. Nils Penczek, an employee of Westenergie AG and a member of the Marl Lenkerbeck Volunteer Fire Department, heard about the request and took action. He applied for the maximum grant of 2,000 euros through the Westenergie active on-site employee initiative.
solid wooden structure
"I am delighted that we were able to purchase the solid wooden structure for our carport thanks to the support of my employer. Together with my firefighter colleagues, we painted the structure, created the foundations, and then built the carport ourselves," said Project Sponsor - Nils Penczek.
Additional donations will be used to provide the carport with a roof.
safe parking
Fire brigade pioneer - Lars Kuhlmann is delighted and said, "Without the support of Westenergie, this project would not have been possible."
Lars Kuhlmann adds, "Thanks to the cooperation, we will be able to park our trailer in a safe place in the future, so that we will hopefully be able to use it for our work for a long time."
social and voluntary commitment
Westenergie covers the material costs, but not wages because the focus is on voluntary work
With Westenergie aktiv vor Ort, the company supports the social and voluntary commitment of its employees. Anyone who rolls up their sleeves and gets involved in a good cause in their hometown receives up to 2,000 euros for their project.
Westenergie covers the material costs, but not wages because the focus is on voluntary work, which should be encouraged and rewarded. If a daycare center needs a new swing or a clubhouse urgently needs renovation - Westenergie aktiv vor Ort makes it possible.
climate protection, and education
In addition to energy supply, Westenergie is traditionally involved in the areas of sport, culture, social affairs, climate protection, and education in its partner communities. Through sponsorships and cooperation, the company supports both small initiatives and large associations to shape the future together with local people on a social level.
Almost 400 projects were supported last year through the Westenergie active on-site employee initiative alone. Since the initiative was launched in 2005, more than 12,000 projects have been implemented and subsidized by Westenergie AG with over 22 million euros.
