The municipalities in the Schweich collective municipality will continue to work with Westenergie on the operation and modernization of street lighting.
Representatives of the collective municipality and the municipalities met with representatives of Westenergie in Riol to symbolically sign the extension of the relevant contracts. The service agreements entitled "Light & Service" were extended for a further ten years until December 31, 2035.
Energy-saving technology
"We will be able to significantly reduce energy consumption in the coming years by using energy-saving technology. This cost-saving has a positive effect and not only relieves the burden on municipal budgets, but is also good for our environment and climate protection," explained Christiane Horsch, mayor of the Schweich municipality.
Marco Felten, head of the Trier region at Westenergie, added: "Westenergie has been a reliable partner of the municipalities in the Schweich municipality in the area of street lighting for many years. We are pleased that we can continue this successful cooperation in the future."
LED technology
The area of the Schweich municipality includes around 5,100 street lights. In the coming years, Westenergie will continue to modernize the municipality's systems to state-of-the-art LED technology.
In addition to modernizing the street lighting to new technologies, the agreement also includes the planning, construction and operation of street lights, troubleshooting and maintenance of the systems.
