Ameren Missouri announces that more than 630 commercial customers have participated in its business energy savings program, BizSavers®, so far this year. Combined, these customers project to save over $2.1 million on their energy costs annually after completing more than 670 energy efficiency projects.

In total, these Missouri businesses are projected to save 20.2 million kilowatt-hours (kWh) of electricity per year. That’s the equivalent of 1,845 home’s energy use for one year.

Simple energy-efficient upgrades

It’s incredible to see year over year how our BizSavers program provides customized solutions for customers, ranging from libraries to manufacturers, and helps them achieve their energy savings goals,” said Kenny Blair, program supervisor of energy efficiency at Ameren Missouri. “The projects we incentivize may seem like simple energy-efficient upgrades, but they can make a huge impact for a customer.”

BizSavers provides cash incentives to companies across all industries for energy efficiency upgrades, such as LED lighting, high-efficiency HVAC and refrigeration systems, commercial-grade cooking equipment, motor controls/variable frequency drives and much more.

Future capital improvements

This upgrade projects to save the library over $3,300 annually in electric costs

Charles Industries, LLC, a telecommunications manufacturing company, recently upgraded to LED lighting in its Canton facility to reduce its overall energy consumption. As of today, it projects to save $12,000 annually in electric costs and more than 123,700 kWh of projected energy savings annually.

"We're grateful to partner with Ameren Missouri on its BizSavers program to maximize our energy efficiency and savings," said Tod Cunningham, plant controller of Charles Industries. "It's a win-win in that by making energy efficient improvements like LED lighting, not only do we reduce our carbon footprint, but we get cash back to reinvest on future capital improvements."

Osage Beach Library, which is a part of the Camden County Library District, also recently participated in BizSavers by replacing their entire building’s lights with LED lighting. This upgrade projects to save the library over $3,300 annually in electric costs and more than 32,700 kWh of projected energy savings annually.

Energy efficiency programs

Conservation of energy and resources is important to us at the library, so participating in Ameren Missouri’s BizSavers program was an easy decision,” said Kendra Purtle, branch manager of Osage Beach Library. “This project and the annual savings will not only help us bring even more programs to our community; they also allow everyone to see our library in a whole new light."

The BizSavers program launched in 2013 and offers several energy efficiency programs through Ameren Missouri to help commercial customers manage their energy use and reduce costs.
