The Lippe-Bruch Gahlen e. V. riding club in Dorsten regularly offers jumping training and holiday courses for members and visitors at the outdoor park.

The club, which has been in existence for 90 years, has a lot of experience in equestrian sports and regularly brings members and interested parties together at tournaments and events. Since the risk of injury from falls during training is very high, the desire arose for new obstacles with a built-in safety system.

grant of 2,000 euros

When Rainer Schikora, a former Westenergie employee, heard about this request, he decided to support the association.

He applied to his former employer for the maximum grant of 2,000 euros for the necessary materials through the Westenergie active employee initiative. Together with other volunteers, he assembled the new obstacles for the course.

MIM safety system

"The MIM safety system increases the safety of riders and horses in the cross-country course," said Christiane Rittmann, the first Chairwoman of the Association.

She adds, "If the obstacle is touched forcefully, a folding mechanism is triggered, which significantly reduces the risk of serious falls. We would like to thank Westenergie AG and Rainer Schikora, who supported us in this project. Thanks to them, eventing in the cross-country park has become safer."

social and voluntary commitment

Westenergie covers the material costs but not wages because the focus is on voluntary work

With Westenergie aktiv vor Ort, the company supports the social and voluntary commitment of its employees. Anyone who rolls up their sleeves and gets involved in a good cause in their hometown receives up to 2,000 euros for their project.

Westenergie covers the material costs but not wages because the focus is on voluntary work, which should be encouraged and rewarded. If a daycare center needs a new swing or a clubhouse urgently needs renovation - Westenergie aktiv vor Ort makes it possible.

climate protection, and education

In addition to energy supply, Westenergie is traditionally involved in the areas of sport, culture, social affairs, climate protection, and education in its partner communities. Through sponsorships and cooperations, the company supports both small initiatives and large associations to shape the future together with local people, also at a social level.

In 2023, almost 400 projects were supported through the Westenergie Active Local Employee Initiative alone. Since the initiative was launched in 2005, more than 12,000 projects have been implemented and subsidized by Westenergie with over 22 million euros.
