With the help of Westenergie, TuS Waldböckelheim has converted the floodlight system on the sports grounds to efficient LED technology. The modern lamps offer better lighting and safety for football players, use less energy and do not contain any harmful substances such as mercury.
In order to offer football fans of all ages better visibility and therefore greater safety, TuS Waldböckelheim has had the floodlight system on the sports grounds converted to efficient LED technology.
Efficient LED technology
The technically state-of-the-art eight lights on the six masts now illuminate the grass pitch. This was made possible - in addition to funding from the federal government and the state sports association - by sponsorship from Westenergie.
Christian Lange, first Chairman of TuS Waldböckelheim, together with Melanie Dindorf, Westenergie Municipal Manager, were impressed by the new technology at the 1,200-year anniversary match between the traditional team of 1.FC Kaiserslautern and a regional over-40 selection.
LED lights are maintenance-free
The LED lights are maintenance-free and do not emit heat because they convert electricity directly into light
In contrast to the old ones, the LED lights are maintenance-free and do not emit heat because they convert electricity directly into light. The special thing about LEDs is that they do not contain any highly toxic substances such as mercury.
Among other things, the new lamps use less energy than conventional lights, so they are environmentally friendly and efficient.
Employee initiative alone
"We would like to thank Westenergie for their generous support. The new technology scores with its enormous energy saving potential of up to 70 percent. The lights offer our young and old sports fans an optimally illuminated football field on which they can let off steam," said Christian Lange enthusiastically.
In addition to energy supply, Westenergie is traditionally involved in the areas of sport, culture, social affairs, climate protection and education in its partner communities.
Through sponsorships and cooperations, the company supports both small initiatives and large associations in order to shape the future together with local people at a social level. More than 12,000 voluntary projects have already been implemented through the Westenergie active on site.
