Living Spaces Clearfield was a great opportunity for the electricians to demonstrate their ability to provide an electrical installation while remaining nimble and efficient. GSL was tasked with the tenant improvement of an existing freestanding building, which would soon house a new retail store for the esteemed furniture retailer, Living Spaces.

With a project size of 101,090 square feet and a relatively short duration of around 9 months, GSL left no stone unturned in ensuring every facet of the existing site and building met the high standards of the owner.

GSL's willingness

The meticulous approach GSL undertook is evident in the extensive list of tasks accomplished

The meticulous approach GSL undertook is evident in the extensive list of tasks accomplished. Existing site conduits and wire had to be addressed, all site light poles were replaced, and a complete overhaul of the distribution, branch, and lighting systems was carried out. Perhaps the crowning achievement was the installation of 330 high bay pendant fixtures.

These were not only numerous, but installed with a precision that is nothing short of exemplary. The result is a store where no matter where one stands or looks, each row of fixtures is perfectly aligned. Furthermore, the installation of 130-floor boxes required the removal of over 2,500 linear feet of the slab, showcasing GSL's willingness to provide a thorough and proper installation.

Exemplary collaboration

The success of any project hinges on seamless collaboration, and in the case of the Living Spaces project, GSL joined forces with ARCO Design Build, a leading general contractor in the industry. Together, they were synchronized to provide a quality product to the owner.

The scale of this tenant improvement is reflected in the installation quantities - a staggering 32,170 of conduit and 174,250 linear feet of cabling. GSL's crew, led by the seasoned Lyle Haslam, demonstrated exceptional proficiency. While a small crew of 6-7 electricians was predominantly engaged, there were instances where the workforce swelled to over 15 electricians, attesting to the flexibility and scalability of the Special Projects team.

Meeting the grand opening deadline

One of the most critical aspects of this project was the Grand Opening date slated for June 15th

One of the most critical aspects of this project was the Grand Opening date slated for June 15th. They were cognizant of the potential challenges, and worked relentlessly to ensure timely completion.

With advertising already in full swing, any delays were simply not an option. The partnership with CED, a trusted supplier, played a pivotal role in ensuring materials were delivered promptly, thus safeguarding the project schedule.

A Testimonial To Expertise

They would like to extend their gratitude to Lyle for his contribution to this project. He is an experienced hand and came out of his (admittedly short) retirement to help steer this project towards success. Under his leadership, the crew not only adhered to the schedule but also managed to save on both hours and material.

Such dedication did not go unnoticed. Arco Design/Build, impressed by the quality of the work, specifically requested him for an upcoming GSL/Arco project.

GSL Electric's unwavering commitment

They would also like to extend their appreciation to Josh Eastham, who served as the Project Coordinator on this job. He really took the initiative to facilitate coordination between the field team and Arco, and kept on top of the changing needs of the project to make sure they could deliver for the Client and the Owner. His efforts were instrumental in keeping this complex project running smoothly.

In conclusion, the Living Spaces project is a shining example of GSL Electric's unwavering commitment to excellence. The ability to navigate challenges, collaborate seamlessly, and deliver results of the highest caliber sets the team apart as industry pioneers.
