Clean energy solutions provider Gentari Sdn Bhd (Gentari) through its subsidiary Gentari Green Mobility Sdn Bhd is further expanding its efforts to drive green mobility adoption via a new hassle-free, long-term electric vehicle (EV) leasing solution for commercial fleet operators as part of its Vehicle-as-a-Service offerings.

In a launch event officiated by Minister of Investment, Trade, and Industry Senator Tengku Datuk Seri Utama Zafrul Aziz today, Gentari announced its collaboration with eCommerce company Lazada to pilot the electrification of its logistics operations with the introduction of 25 eBikes for its last-mile delivery.

Contribute to carbon emissions

Malaysia has one of the highest rates of vehicle ownership among East Asian countries, which significantly contribute to carbon emissions in the country. To help lower emissions from the transportation sector, Gentari is now introducing electric two-wheelers as part of our Vehicle-as-a-Service offering, targeted towards facilitating businesses to transition to EVs."

"We are excited to collaborate with Lazada in decarbonizing their logistics fleet operations,” commented Shah Yang Razalli, Deputy CEO of Gentari and CEO of Gentari Green Mobility.

Licensed EV charging stations

Gentari is committed to ensuring safety, reliability, convenience, and value for its customers

Today, our focus on making commercial fleets more sustainable helps drive the transition across various societal and economic levels, especially within the vital last-mile delivery sector. Additionally, our strategy aligns with national goals such as the National Energy Transition Roadmap’s targets and Bursa Malaysia’s ESG reporting mandate that is spurring corporations to adopt green mobility,” he added.

With a vision to become Asia Pacific’s most valued clean energy solutions partner, Gentari is committed to ensuring safety, reliability, convenience, and value for its customers. Currently having the largest network of licensed EV charging stations in Malaysia and with an aim to provide charging connectivity every 100 kilometers across the nation, Gentari bolsters the country’s transition to sustainable transportation with greater range confidence.

Reliable and efficient charging solutions

Gentari has over 400 Gentari EV charging points, including 120 DC fast chargers, making us the largest operator of fast chargers nationwide. With chargers spread across 105 locations, they provide reliable and efficient charging solutions, ensuring seamless integration of EVs into daily operations for businesses and individuals.

Its Vehicle-as-a-Service offering has delivered more than 3,400 vehicles helping businesses across Malaysia, India, and Indonesia to decarbonize their fleet operations with fully electric cars, bikes, and vans.

Dedication to ESG principles

We are excited to embark on this partnership with Gentari, which underscores our dedication to ESG principles and accelerates our journey towards a greener future. This collaboration sets a new environmental standard in logistics, not only by boosting our operational efficiency but also reducing our carbon footprint."

"It reflects our commitment to support Malaysia's journey towards environmental sustainability and we hope to work together with Gentari to make this positive difference, one delivery at a time,” by Venkat Shankar, Chief Logistics Officer, Lazada Malaysia.

Electrified by 2050

Gentari’s effort to promote the electrification of retail fleets also aligned with nation targets

Gentari’s effort to promote the electrification of commercial fleets is also aligned to government targets aimed at achieving net zero carbon emissions by 2050, such as those outlined in the National Energy Transition Roadmap targeting 80% of two-wheelers to be electrified by 2050, supported by tax incentives of up to RM2,400 offered by the Malaysian Government.

Senator Tengku Datuk Seri Utama Zafrul Aziz, Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry, remarked, “I commend Gentari and Lazada for promoting electric mobility and facilitating the transition to sustainable transportation."

Transition for businesses

Aziz added: "The fleet leasing model, which complements the government’s Electric Motorcycle Use Promotion Scheme (MARiiCas), not only exemplifies a forward-thinking approach, but also simplifies the transition for businesses to adopt electric vehicles, promoting a sustainable model of vehicle ownership and operation that sets a standard for other sectors to follow."

"At the Ministry, we are greatly encouraged to see companies actively contributing to the national green mobility and sustainable transportation agenda, in alignment with goals set forth in policies such as the Low Carbon Mobility Blueprint, National Energy Policy, National Energy Transition Roadmap, and New Industrial Master Plan 2030.”
