EDF has stepped in to help customers left without a supplier after Green Network Energy ceased trading on 27 January 2021.

The supplier will take on Green Network Energy’s 360,000 domestic customers as well as a smaller number of non-domestic customers, and has agreed to protect any money a customer may be owed.

price decrease

Customers’ energy supply will continue as normal as they switch over to EDF

Existing customers’ credit on their accounts will be transferred across to their new account with EDF and it will repay customers who have already left Green Network Energy and are owed money.

EDF is pleased to confirm that Green Network Energy’s customers will see a price decrease versus their current tariff, and they will also provide Warm Home Discount to those customers who are eligible. Customers’ energy supply will continue as normal as they switch over to EDF and will be contacted directly to let them know the next steps.

“Excellent” rating

EDF is Britain’s biggest generator of zero-carbon electricity, meeting around one-fifth of the country’s demand, supplying around 5 million residential electricity and gas customer accounts, with an “Excellent” rating on Trust Pilot.

Commenting on the decision, Managing Director for EDF’s Customers business Philippe Commaret, said, “We are pleased to be able to step in to support the customers of Green Network Energy, who will have been concerned to hear that their existing supplier has unfortunately ceased trading."

smooth transition

"We are working closely with the supplier to ensure a smooth transition and ensure that customers are switched over as quickly as possible, with everything taken care of for them."

"With EDF, they will get a reliable supplier who provides excellent service and zero-carbon electricity supply, which we offer to all our residential customers as standard. Customers do not need to do anything at the moment supply will continue as normal and we’ll be in touch in the coming weeks to explain any new arrangements.
