The E.ON Group has taken note of the communication from Ceconomy AG regarding the planned appointment of Karsten Wildberger as Chairman of the Board of Management.

Making decisive contribution

In this regard, the Chairman of the Supervisory Board of E.ON SE, Karl-Ludwig Kley, states: “We very much regret that Karsten Wildberger has decided to take on a new challenge after five years on the E.ON Board of Management.”

We are happy with him for taking the next step and wish him continued success in his new role"

Karl-Ludwig Kley adds, “Since 2016, he has made a decisive contribution to the further development of E.ON. With his experience outside the energy industry, he has contributed to driving the transformation to a company where the customer is at the center of everything E.ON does. Although we regret his decision, we are happy with him for taking the next step and wish him continued success in his new role, said Kley.”

Many major challenges

Under Karsten Wildberger's leadership, the company had managed to solve many major challenges, for example successfully launching the turnaround of its business in the UK, which was so important for E.ON. In the UK and Germany, several million electricity customers have been migrated to new, forward-looking digital platforms.

Wildberger also played a major role in the strong growth of the sustainable distributed energy infrastructure business for cities and industrial customers. And the future energy home business for households was scaled to become the European market pioneer in just a few years. In addition, under Wildberger’s leadership, E.ON has transformed itself into a digital energy company. The Supervisory Board of E.ON SE will deal with the matter.
