The DLRG Rheinböllen local group has a new motor rescue boat. The new addition is 5.4 meters long, but weighs less than 500 kilograms and has a 100 hp engine. The boat can accommodate up to twelve people, including the boat captain, lifeguards and rescued people.
The boat's hull is made of aluminum and a large tube, which gives it high maneuverability, more safety, and good handling even in the roughest conditions.
Highfield Patrol 540 boat
The purchase of the new boat was made possible in part by the energy service provider
The DLRG Rheinböllen will not only use it as an emergency boat on the Rhine, as the first chairman Thomas Scherer emphasized at the christening of the boat, but also as a training boat for future boat captains.
Last Sunday the time had finally come: after around ten months of planning, the new Highfield Patrol 540 boat was christened "Phoenix". The purchase of the new boat was made possible in part by the energy service provider and infrastructure provider Westenergie through a financial contribution as part of a sponsorship.
DLRG's own comrades
In total, over 80 guests accepted the invitation to the DLRG Mittelrhein watch station in Bingen-Kempten to celebrate this special event. After more than 30 years, the previous rescue boat is now being replaced by a professional motor rescue boat.
Following the celebrations, the guests and supporters of the DLRG and sponsors of the project, as well as the DLRG's own comrades, had the opportunity to experience the new boat live from the shore as well as on board on the Rhine.
