On the morning of 21 February 2020, President Filipe Nyusi of Mozambique went to the Marrupa district to attend the completion ceremony of the Cuamba-Marrupa power line and Marrupa substation. Ernesto Tonela, Minister of Mining and Energy, and Aly Sicola Impija, CEO of an electric power company also attended the ceremony.

After visiting the substation, President Nyusi highly praised the achievements and thanked for the contribution from NR Electric, who worked as an EPC company for this project. Mr. President stated that Mozambique will continue to expand power grid construction nationwide, and invited NR to participate in the construction of Mozambique's national power grid in the future.

NR's project management and execution

STATCOM system installed in the substation can stabilize 33 kV bus voltage and improve power system stability

The newly built Marrupa substation will provide a reliable power supply for 25,000 households, hospitals, schools, and water supply systems in Marrupa city. The project will also provide strong support for the President's policy of vigorously developing basic infrastructure facilities of people's livelihood.

The Energy Minister and CEO of the power company also highly affirmed NR's project management and execution ability and praised the Marrupa substation as a high-quality project and a benchmark for substation construction nationwide.

Cuamba - Marrupa project is NR's first turnkey substation project in Africa, including the STATCOM system, geological survey, civil engineering, communication system, and electrical equipment of the whole station. The STATCOM system installed in the substation can stabilize 33 kV bus voltage and improve power system stability.

From design, production, transportation, installation, and commissioning to operation, NR Electric accurately managed the whole process. Finally, the project was successfully completed with high quality on time.

The successful delivery and operation of the project marks an important milestone of NR’s international substations EPC business. NR will continue to provide high-quality substation system solutions for global users, lighting the world with NR products and technologies.
