Brunvoll has a clear sustainability strategy and continuously works to reduce its environmental impact. As a result, Brunvoll has chosen to invest a double-digit million amount (in NOK) to install 7,400 square meters of solar panels at its factory in Molde.

This investment will lead to an annual energy production of 1,350,000 kWh, equivalent to 25% of the factory’s electrical power consumption.

Brunvoll's energy consumption

More than 97% of Brunvoll's energy consumption comes from electricity and district heating, both of which already have a low carbon footprint due to hydropower and biofuel.

However, energy is not something users can waste, and this investment will help to reduce the dependency on conventional energy sources, lighten the strain on the power grid, and increase the share of renewable energy sources.

We thank our owners for their trust in making these types of investments driven not by a financial perspective"

"Brunvoll and our owners have a strong commitment to the communities in which we operate, and a clearly established sustainability strategy," says Group CEO - Kåre Øyvind Vassdal.

Kåre Øyvind Vassdal adds, "Once again, we thank our owners for their trust in making these types of investments driven not by a financial perspective, but by a genuine desire to contribute to greener business operations."

Capacity

The consumption pattern of Brunvoll's factory in Molde suggests that 75% of the energy produced by the solar power plant will be used by the company, while the remaining will be fed into the local power grid.

The plant will have a capacity of 1,640 kWp, and the annual production of 1,350,000 kWh will account for 25% of the factory's electricity consumption. This is equivalent to the consumption of 70 single-family homes.

Brunvolls proximity to Molde Airport has also influenced the chosen solutions, and the company greatly appreciates the collaboration with Avinor in this project.

The solar power plant will be delivered and installed by BlueTec AS in partnership with the local installation company, HTL Elektro AS.
