A number of out-of-control wildfires are currently burning in northern Alberta. As a result of the fires power lines servicing these communities have been damaged, and this critical infrastructure continues to be under threat.

ATCO is continuing to monitor the situation closely, and its employees and contractors are working diligently and safely to replace damaged infrastructure and ensure that its customers continue to have access to the reliable electricity service they rely on.

backup power generation

In the event that the power lines are disrupted due to ongoing fire activity in the area, ATCO has secured backup generation that they can draw upon if needed.

ATCO is grateful for the incredible partnerships with Ag and Forestry, the Town of High Level, Mackenzie County, the County of Northern Lights, Indigenous communities, including the Dene Tha’ First Nation and Paddle Prairie Metis, and emergency response teams on site to coordinate our efforts within the region.
