Ameren Illinois has allocated US$ 500,000 in funds to assist customers who do not typically meet income qualifications for state and federal energy bill payment programs.
Joe Solari, the Vice President of Customer Experience at Ameren Illinois, said “Higher power supply prices are impacting all of our customers, regardless of their income or economic circumstance.”

Inflation and supply constraints
Inflation and supply constraints have led to an energy shortage and the resulting supply cost increases have caused monthly bill amounts to increase substantially.
Ameren Illinois does not profit from energy supply, power is purchased by an Illinois state agency and the costs are passed directly to customers, dollar-for-dollar.
18-month repayment plan for customers
In addition to the direct bill assistance, qualified Ameren Illinois customers, who are behind on their energy bills can establish an 18-month repayment plan, with a 10% down payment through July 31, 2022. After July 31, 2022, most customers with outstanding balances will need to make a 25% down payment, before they can establish a monthly payment plan.
Customers can explore all energy assistance and bill payment options, as well as money-saving resources on the EnergyAssistance page on the company’s official website.
