WEG has won the prestigious contract to supply a fleet of W22 motors to upgrade the air handling units at the Al Adan Hospital in Kuwait.
Founded in 1986, the Al Adan Hospital is the main public general hospital in Al Ahmadi Governorate, Kuwait offering critical care to patients of all ages.
HVAC units
Across both the hospital’s clinical and non-clinical departments, the heating ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) units play a significant role in ensuring every space in the hospital is at the correct temperature and is ventilated in line with safety guidelines.
This is essential to ensure the most vulnerable patients are protected from airborne illnesses and that temperatures around the building are maintained to guarantee that sensitive medical equipment does not malfunction.
Challenges with motors
WEG’s Middle East branch was up to the challenge of supplying motors in the hospital’s air conditioning units
With tough commercial targets and delivery requirements, WEG’s Middle East branch was up to the challenge of supplying motors in the hospital’s air conditioning units.
These units were dependent on SKM fans and chiller units fitted with WEG motors.
W22 motors
WEG supplied W22 motors for the project, starting from 1.5KW to 75KW. These motors are designed to offer not only lower energy consumption, but lower noise and vibration, higher reliability, easier maintenance, and lower cost of ownership.
The motor frame is designed from cast iron to provide high levels of mechanical strength to cater to the most critical applications such as HVAC systems.
equipment supplier and solutions provider
WEG is a well-respected industrial equipment supplier and solutions provider across the entire Middle East region. In Kuwait, the company is particularly well known for its work in the oil and gas sector and is proud to continue to expand its footprint in the HVAC sector, through high-profile projects such as this one.
technical and after-sales support
Quality of product, technical support, and after-sales support were key to winning this prestigious project. The branch worked closely with SKM Air Conditioning LLC and the contractor during the tender stage to ensure all technical details were correct and WEG met the customer specifications.
The system needed to be robust, reliable, and powerful enough to efficiently heat and cool the hospital, without needlessly wasting energy. WEG certainly achieved this through the upgrade project.
