RECOM has published the latest in a series of ‘Books of Knowledge’ for engineers, designers, and students on the subject of Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC).

EMC Book of Knowledge

The ‘EMC Book of Knowledge’ subtitled ‘Practical Tips for the User’ is written by Steve Roberts, RECOM’s Innovation Manager, and Josefine Lametschwandler, RECOM’s EMC Engineering Team Leader.

The book follows on from RECOM two very popular Books of Knowledge on the subjects of DC/DC and AC/DC converters. The new book will be valuable for anyone involved in the application or design of power converters and also for those wishing to get a wider understanding of EMC for any product or application.

accessible, witty, and conversational

The EMC Book of Knowledge starts with the basics of electric and magnetic fields

The Books of Knowledge are written in an easily accessible, witty, and conversational style by experts in the subject and are wide-ranging in content. The EMC Book of Knowledge starts with the basics of electric and magnetic fields, how they originate, and how they propagate in practical circuits.

Then, the analysis and modeling of components that affect EMC are discussed, along with transmission lines, coupling effects, and techniques for noise reduction.

applicability, classes, and levels

PCB layout and filter design are covered for minimum EMI, along with a section dedicated to EMC standards and their applicability, classes, and levels.

Power factor correction is discussed in its chapter and the book ends with a useful guide to EMC measurement techniques and test equipment. A glossary of terms provides an extensive, useful reference for readers. The ’EMC Book of Knowledge’ is available on the application directly from RECOM.
