On June 3, the Huzhou distributed power flow controller (DPFC) pilot project, developed and supplied by NR Electric, successfully withstood the manual short circuit test. The system responded accurately and the test results met the expectations.
The success of this manual short-circuit test fully verified the ability of NR DPFC ability to withstand AC short-circuit current, AC fault ride through ability, and the accuracy of cooperation with AC line protection, marking that the 220 kV DPFC project has all-round operation conditions.
Distributed Power Flow Controller (DPFC)
DPFC is a new type of flexible power flow control device based on high power electronic technology
DPFC is a new type of flexible power flow control device based on high power electronic technology. Through small capacity distributed series compensator, it can realize the power flow control function, and provide more flexible and advanced power flow control means for smart grid.
It can fully increase the potential power delivery of line corridors, optimize the power flow distribution of local power grid, effectively solve the problem of line overload, improve the power supply capacity and security stability of power system, and enhance the overall efficiency of power grid.
Huzhou DPFC pilot project
Huzhou DPFC pilot project was completed on June 2, with a total capacity of 58 MVA, which can transfer the cross-section power flow of 140MW.
The commissioning of the project not only improved the load capacity and security of the regional power grid, but also reduced the dependence on local gas turbine power supply. It is estimated that the annual carbon emission will be reduced by 117,000 tons, which has great social and economic benefits.
Huzhou DPFC adopts IGBT converter valve
Huzhou DPFC adopts IGBT converter valve directly connected to 220kV high-voltage transmission line, and overcomes a series of technical problems such as coordinated control of double circuit lines and local adaptive control of modules, etc.
In this manual short-circuit test, the converter valve safely withstands the peak short-circuit current of several hundred kilo amperes, and quickly restarts after the fault is eliminated, and the product performance is fully verified.
