Emergency power systems play an integral role in complying with life safety requirements and sustaining critical systems such as data and communications networks within facilities. According to the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) Annual Electric Power Industry Report, electrical customers experienced over eight hours of power interruptions in 2020.

On average, the duration of interruptions customers experienced annually from 2013 to 2020 was consistently two hours. As seasonal storms in South Carolina continue to have an impact on the power grid, facilities must have emergency systems in place in case of a power outage.

Protecting clients and facilities

Hill Electric is committed to protecting its clients and its facilities. It installs emergency and standby power systems to minimize losses due to sudden power outages. The team provides and installs standby generators, uninterruptible power sources, dedicated power, and lighting systems, and life safety systems to guarantee our clients’ critical components continue running should their facility lose power.

Hill Electric understands the impact unplanned outages can have on local and essential businesses which is why its goals include protecting the clients from any harm, production downtime, and lost revenue.

Backup power

Hill Electric has the resources to efficiently deliver, place, and wire emergency electrical services

Backup power is a precious commodity. With decades of experience in supplying power solutions to clients, the team has the resources to efficiently deliver, place, and wire emergency electrical services.

One example is a large generator that was installed in a local facility in Anderson, SC. This facility was planned to be the data storage hub for all its US operations, so a loss of power would result in its US operations shutting down.

Installation plan

Hill Electric took a basic plan from an out-of-state engineering firm and re-tooled it to develop a complete installation plan.

Hill coordinated a whole facility standby generator with integrated load shedding with minimal disruption to the client’s normal operations. It utilized its experience and partnerships with other disciplines to reduce the original downtime required to re-route the electrical utility from five days to one.
