Production increased by 4000 tons and CO2 emissions were reduced by 5000 tons.
This is no contradiction for Diana Bracco, CEO of the northern Italian life science specialist Bracco Imaging: “Environmentally compatible production is a strategic priority for us at Bracco. I am convinced that there is no alternative to sustainable development for a company. E.ON's energy solution helps us to achieve both: We are increasing our competitiveness and at the same time improving our energy efficiency. This is how we protect the environment and the climate.”
Older power plant
Bracco is a pioneer in diagnostic imaging. In Ceriano Laghetto near Milan, the company produces active pharmaceutical ingredients for the production of contrast agents, which are used, among other things, in X-ray examinations.
The gas-fired plant generates both electricity and heat and replaces an older power plant
E.ON will build and operate a customer power plant for Bracco. The gas-fired plant generates both electricity and heat and replaces an older power plant. This will enable Bracco to increase its annual production and at the same time save more than 5000 tons of CO2. The power plant is scheduled to come on stream in a year's time, i.e. in mid-2019.
Identifying potential savings
E.ON has set itself the ambitious goal of using modern energy solutions to help its customers reduce their energy consumption, save costs, and thus avoid CO2 emissions. E.ON has set itself a measurable benchmark in this respect.
By 2030, E.ON customers' CO2 emissions are to be reduced by 50 percent compared with 2016. To this end, E.ON develops innovative solutions and helps its customers to better understand their energy consumption and to identify potential savings.
