Ameren Illinois customers driving in and around North University Street and Illinois Route 40 in Peoria will see energy at work and throughout August as the company upgrades a major natural gas transmission pipeline ahead of a hydrostatic pressure test of the pipeline.

Work recently began along a seven-mile section of existing natural gas pipeline from North University Street and Willow Knolls to East Boy Scout Road in Mossville.
Ameren is working with IDOT and the City of Peoria to control traffic near the construction area. Weather permitting, this portion of the project should be completed by mid-May.
Upgrades along the route include:
- North University Street: natural gas regulator station improvements
- North University Street and Pioneer Parkway: fitting replacements
- North University Street: new gas regulator station installation at the Ameren operating center
- Mount Hawley Airport: re-route and valve installation
- Route 40 and Ravinwoods: valve replacements

Please slow down as you drive on these local streets and pay attention. Our co-workers want to return home safely at the end of the day."
Safe Digging
As required by law, Ameren Illinois will call J.U.L.I.E. (8-1-1) prior to starting work, so crews can dig safely. Customers will see paint marks and colored flags near the work area and along the road to mark the location of underground utilities.
