As temperatures heat up and residents and businesses begin to feel the pinch of higher power supply prices, Ameren Illinois is encouraging its customers to explore opportunities to save energy and money through its Energy Efficiency Program.

One such offering is the Home Efficiency Income Qualified Initiative (HEIQ). Through HEIQ, qualifying customers can receive a free Home Energy Assessment, which will help identify areas where a home is losing energy, and cost-effective ways to upgrade the home, possibly at no cost to the customer.

In partnership with Warm Neighbors Cool Friends, qualified Ameren Illinois customers can also receive grant funding to help lessen the costs of air sealing, insulation, or HVAC-related upgrades in the homes. Installing upgraded systems at home can help increase efficiency and offer long-term energy savings.

Authority comment

At Ameren Illinois, we are committed to creating energy-saving and cost-saving opportunities for our customers.

During a time when customers are seeing higher than normal energy bills because of the increase in supply pricing, the initiative is an easy way for qualifying individuals to bring their home’s energy efficiency up to its highest potential and reduce their energy costs,” said Kristol Simms, Senior Director of Energy Efficiency and Regulatory Policy Implementation at Ameren Illinois.

Available to residential Ameren Illinois

An Energy Advisor can identify specific ways to increase the home’s energy efficiency and reduce overall energy costs

The HEIQ Initiative is available to residential Ameren Illinois customers who live in a single-family home and meet the income qualifications. To participate, customers must confirm eligibility by filling out an application for a Home Energy Assessment.

During the Home Energy Assessment, an Energy Advisor will identify specific ways to increase the home’s energy efficiency and reduce overall energy costs. The Energy Advisor will then discuss a plan for implementing these measures with the customer.

Customer's feedback

I was totally impressed with the breadth of knowledge of the Energy Advisors and Program Allies. The Initiative gives you the opportunity to make sure your home is safe and to learn how to make energy efficiency work for you,” said Hope Ware, a resident who participated in the program.
