Aggreko, the provider of mobile modular power, temperature control, and energy services, has partnered with SailGP – the sport’s pinnacle league – to support the championship’s commitment to a better future.

SailGP recently announced it has achieved both the Carbon Neutral International Standard and joined the UN Climate Neutral Now Initiative, plus the international sustainability standard ISO20121 – ensuring it delivers its events to the highest operating standard. Aggreko will work closely with SailGP over its three-season partnership to deliver cleaner energy systems across all SailGP events around the globe and help SailGP with its ambition of having all events fully powered by clean energy by 2025.

Green grid distribution

In the new season, starting next month, Aggreko will provide a highly efficient hybrid solution comprising solar power, battery storage, and thermal generation. This low-emission energy system will support the transition for SailGP to help realize its ambitious targets.

Looking further ahead, Aggreko will work with SailGP to proactively integrate low-emission new technologies such as green grid distribution and alternative fuels such as Bio-Methanol and hydrogen throughout the term of the partnership and as they become available. More widely, Aggreko has committed to actively work with customers to reduce local emissions and diesel usage by 50% by 2030 and to become Net-Zero by 2050.  This aligns with SailGP’s aim to set new standards for major event delivery as the first climate-positive sports and entertainment property.
